Rachael Unicomb
Provides a mobile speech pathology service for individuals in their home/natural environment. Visits are made to your/your child's home or other environment (where practical/applicable) suited to your/his/her needs.
Rachael’s objective is to provide evidence-based, individualised services in an inclusive environment for all clients. Rachael believes in a strengths-based directed model and in family centered practice.
Services are offered in the Newcastle and Lake Macquarie council areas to individuals experiencing difficulties in speech, language, stuttering and pre-literacy.

Referrals:
A GP (or other health professional) referral is not required to access this service, and self-referral is accepted.
Cancellations:
Cancellations are to be made no less than 24 hours prior to appointment time, otherwise 100% of the scheduled fee may be charged (and payable prior to the next scheduled appointment).
Wherever possible, we will try to reschedule any cancelled appointment, where it is mutually agreeable (and/or we may use the session time for other required work with consent from you/caregiver). Fail to attend appointments where no notification is given will be charged at 100% of the scheduled fee.
No future appointments will be made until the cancellation fee is paid. If a client fails to attend multiple
appointments, services may be withdrawn.
Private Fee Schedule
Initial consultation (70 mins)
​Includes: Observations and/or screeners; case history discussions; discussion of client/parental concerns and goals; description of practice service agreements etc., rights, responsibilities; discussion of treatment options. Price includes 50mins direct time with the therapist, and 20mins indirect time which includes provision of a (brief) summary document outlining assessment and/or referral and/or therapy recommendations).

(3 hrs)
Comprehensive (standardised) assessment of receptive and expressive language abilities. Includes written report. Price includes up to 90mins direct assessment time, and 90mins of indirect time (cost of assessment forms/resources, assessment data analysis, report generation, therapy recommendations/plan).

Speech Assessment
(3hrs)
​Comprehensive (standardised and informal) assessment of speech sound production (including an oral musculature assessment, single word assessment, connected speech assessment, and pre-literacy skills (as appropriate). Includes written report. Price includes up to 90mins direct assessment time, and 90mins of indirect time (cost of assessment forms/resources, assessment data analysis, report generation, therapy recommendations/plan).

Combined speech and language assessment

​​Assesses both language skills and speech sound production in the manner described in the items above (in Language Assessment and Speech Assessment sections respectively). Price includes up to 120mins direct assessment time, and 120mins of indirect time (cost of assessment forms/resources, assessment data analysis, report generation, therapy recommendations/plan/s).

Early communication assessment
(2.5hrs)
Suitable for children under 3years or those with nil/limited verbal output. Includes: Play based language assessment/observations, parental checklist assessment. Written summary report provided. Price includes up to 90mins direct assessment time, and 60mins of indirect time (cost of assessment forms/resources, assessment data analysis, report generation, therapy recommendations/plan/s).

Stuttering assessment (2.25hrs)
​Includes: observation and assessment of stuttering, provision of education around stuttering + available treatment options, provision of full stuttering report. Price includes up to 90mins direct assessment time, and 45mins of indirect time (report generation, therapy recommendations/plan/s). Note that if a report is not required, the session cost will be $339.48 (up to 90mins direct, 15mins indirect.

Additional fees
May apply in other direct and indirect activities including (but not limited to): sessions going for longer than the scheduled time, additional requested reports (including NDIS review reports without assessment), telephone consultations/follow-ups at request of client/caregiver, resource creation at request of the client/caregiver/school etc., handover summary, school/team meetings. Charged at an hourly rate as required.
